I am pulling my hair out because I had a windows box printing on a Ububtu computer but the hard drive on the ubuntu crashed and now I can't get it to print again. I've been talking with the local LUG for a month and they can't seem to help any.
I've played with smb.conf (a) but the LUG says that it appears to be proper.
If you look at it you will see that it is the sample smb.conf with a few minor additions. I added the 'opening ports' section under 'global' and I added the 'interfaces' under the 'networking' section. I'm not to sure if that one is right. It says 'interfaces = 192.168.0.2/24 eth0'. Is the '24' right?
Could you help this poor old soul?

# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options most of which
# are not shown in this example
